I took this picture with an arty moptive to it. The flower gives the viewer perspective of the insect in relation to size and colours. I feel that tis picture would be classed, like my photo 'fly on a flower', in both the catagories of insects and flowers

Yes, it is true and it does work! I've made several hundred dollars on the site... enough to buy a DSLR, lenses, flashes, filters and other camera equipment.

25 cents doesn't seem like a lot... but it does add up. Plus with enhanced license sales and per-photo sales you can make up to $20 for one image. Plus the site gives raises. I've gotten 3 raises since I first joined the site. So there really is a lot of money to be made.

Yes, photographers put a lot of effort into their art... Which is why selling stock photography and selling art photography is very different. I shoot seperate stock images for the site, which are very different from my artistic images I work hard at. I also sell stock illustrations that I make in PhotoShop that take me less than a minute to create!

I sell stock as a way to afford the equipment I need to persue my photography. Cameras and equipment are so expensive, and selling stock is a great way to be able to afford it!

omg that is amazin! i am gonna register for definate! can you send me a link to your gallery? and how much do you earn lyk monthly, 25 cents seems like nothing

My gallery is: [link]

My earnings vary per month. Some months I make between $100-$200 and slower months I make about $50. Which I've talked to people on the site who make over $100 per day with their galleries!

April-September is the busy season... Those months I make the most. October-March is the slow season. So I make less during that time of year.

Also, the more images I have in my gallery, the more money I make. Selling stock is a numbers game... so you want to upload A LOT to make the most money.

Also, months where I upload new images several times a week every week tend to be my best selling months. Last month I was busy working on lots of other stuff and only ended up submitting one new batch of photos the entire month. My sales reflected that. I had about 50 less downloads in May of 2007 than I had in May of 2006... And I had several hundred more images in my gallery as of May 2007!

What I do like about it though is I can take breaks. Like I can go 6 months without uploading anything new to my gallery at all... But I'll still make money on what I already have. But, if I work hard and upload new stuff everyday, I'll make even more money!

The way their system works is newly uploaded images appear first in the searches... so they are more likely to get downloaded. This is to encourage photographers to always add new stuff. But your old stuff still gets downloaded daily as well.
